• Gurudongmar Lake – A Sacred Jewel of North Sikkim                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Gurudongmar Lake, located in North Sikkim at an altitude of about 17,800 feet, is one of the highest lakes in the world. Surrounded by snow-capped Himalayan peaks, the lake holds immense spiritual significance for both Buddhists and Sikhs. According to legend, Guru Padmasambhava blessed the lake, and a part of it never freezes—even in the harshest winters. The lake’s turquoise waters and serene environment create a magical, almost surreal atmosphere.

It is a high-altitude valley surrounded by majestic mountains and traversed by icy streams. Thangu experiences snow for most of the year and is an important acclimatization point for travelers heading further north.
